On 18th November 2019, the CHROMIC project was invited to present in the “Horizon 2020 Technology success stories” at the Raw Materials week (18-22 November 2019) in Brussels.

After a brief introduction on the overall CHROMIC concept, the talk (given by coordinator Liesbeth Horckmans) focused on the technological challenges and the importance of ensuring economic and environmental sustainability of the developed technologies. The key issues identified by the 1st iteration of the integrated assessment were discussed, and some examples were given of how these results were used to further improve the processes.

The CHROMIC project crosses the ocean to land at PDAC 2019 (https://www.pdac.ca/convention) in Toronto, Canada, from 3rd to 6th March.

The annual PDAC Convention is one of the top international events for the minerals and mining industry, attended by thousands of representatives of industries, research institutes, stakeholders and investors from all around the world.

CHROMIC – along with other Horizon 2020 Raw Materials projects – will be promoted within a dedicated EU booth. A short version of the CHROMIC project video (http://www.chromic.eu/multimedia/chromic-project/) will be presented.

The CHROMIC project has been presented at two events that recently took place in Slovakia.

The first one was held in Horná-Lehota from 4th to 6th September, organized by Železiarne  Podbrezová Research and Development Center, an institution in the metallurgy field, specialized in steel. It was a special national conference, called for the 10th anniversary of the R&D Center, where industrial and academic partners were invited to present their latest research results. CHROMIC was there through the Institute of Recycling Technologies (IRT) of the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling at the Technical University of Kosice (TUKE), which is a partner of the project. IRT held one whole section of the conference, part of which was dedicated to the presentation of the CHROMIC project’s goals, partners’ involvement and first experimental results.

Professor Andrea Miškufová (TUKE) speaks about these events in the Episode 4 of the CHROMIC Podcast

The second event was the 24th edition of the “TOP” international conference on techniques of environmental protection, held at Hotel Panorama in High Tatras, Štrbske Pleso, from 19th to 21st September. Organized by the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), the conference was divided in five different panels and IRT was the organizer of an industrial waste treatment section, within the panel dealing with the topic of waste recycling. The CHROMIC project was introduced in two different presentations, the first of which focusing on explaining its aims and workplan, whereas the second one dedicated to showing the first experimental results on radiofrequency and ozone leaching obtained by IRT.
